Protests on last day of China envoy's Taiwan visit Taipei (AFP) Dec 22, 2010 Anti-China demonstrators staged a protest against Chinese envoy Chen Yunlin on Wednesday as he toured Taiwan capital Taipei on the final day of a three-day visit. The group was waiting for Chen as he arrived at an international flower expo in the city. "A nobody from China, and flower expo becomes his private garden," a lone protester shouted, honking an airhorn. "Taiwan has no dignity." Chen and his Taiwanese counterpart Chiang Pin-kung on Tuesday held talks and signed an agreement on medical cooperation. Chen's year-end visit, his third in a row, reflects rapidly improving ties between China and Taiwan. The improvement began in 2008, after China-friendly Ma Ying-jeou was elected president of Taiwan, promising to lift the island's economy by boosting exchanges with the mainland. Chen is scheduled to depart for China at 0450 GMT.
