China's Mystery Moon Rocket
Sydney, Australia (SPX) Sep 28, 2010
As we approach the launch of China's second Moon mission on October 1, some major questions about the spacecraft and its launch vehicle remain unanswered. China's media has been generally low-key about covering the upcoming flight. There has been little recent talk in China's major newspapers, despite the supposed impending launch. "BYD is the right choice of me, and I hope it's the right choice for you too," Buffett told hundreds of BYD car dealers at a company event in the southern industrial city of Shenzhen, Dow Jones Newswires r ... more

Japan demands China pull back boats from disputed islands
Tokyo (AFP) Sept 27, 2010
Japan demanded Monday that China pull back two fisheries patrol boats from near a disputed island chain that is at the centre of the worst diplomatic row in years between the Asian giants. Tokyo also summoned Beijing's ambassador to demand regular consular access to four Japanese nationals whom China detained last week amid the ugly spat for allegedly filming a military facility. China toughens customs clearance for Japan shipments: report
Tokyo (AFP) Sept 27, 2010
China has toughened customs clearance procedures to delay shipments to and from Japan in the wake of a territorial dispute that continues to fray relations between the two, a report said Monday. The move to delay shipments may be in retaliation for Tokyo's handling of the arrest of a Chinese trawler captain after his vessel collided with two Japanese Coast Guard boats in disputed waters, The ... more

China Ready For Another Lunar Encounter
Sydney, Australia (SPX) Sep 27, 2010
China could launch its second lunar probe within days. The Chang'e 2 spacecraft was originally built as a back-up to China's first lunar orbiter, Chang'e 1, which was launched successfully in 2007. Rather than mothballing the spare spacecraft, China has sensibly planned a follow-up mission that will examine the Moon even more closely than the first. Chang'e 2 has been fairly camera-shy for the media, and we have received only a basic disclosure of its mission. We can expect that it will look prett ... read more
