India To Send Astronauts On Its Own Rocket By 2017
New Delhi (PTI) Apr 15, 2010
India will send two astronauts to space by 2017 in its own spacecraft and the Rs 12,400 project is likely to be approved before the Independence Day, ISRO chairman Dr K Radhakrishnan has said. With this achievement, India would join the select club of America, Russia and China which have such human space flight capabilities. Somali pirates seized a cargo ship and its 23-member Chinese crew on Sunday in the Indian Ocean west of the Seychelles, an organisation in Kenya that monitors piracy on the high seas said. Rescuers recovered five more bodies from a huge coal mine that flooded two weeks ago in northern China, bringing the death toll in the disaster to 33, state-run Xinhua news agency reported Sunday. Forty children in China died from the highly contagious hand, foot and mouth disease in March, almost doubling the death toll in the previous two months, state media reported. Rescuers recovered a total of three bodies at a coal mine in northern China, bringing the death toll from a massive flood to 28, state media reported Saturday.
