SpeedCast Selects iDirect To Expand Their Satellite Networking Services iDirect Technologies has been selected by SpeedCast to provide the technology for their new satellite broadband platform. SpeedCast will resell the capacity of their iDirect Hub to service providers who can then act as Virtual Network Operators (VNO) anywhere in the SpeedCast coverage area. "We are very excited to work with SpeedCast as they deploy these new networks in Asia. With their proven track records in operating broadband platforms, they offer a very good solution for service providers interested in offering high-end satellite services to their customers" said KW Chan, iDirect Vice President of Sales for Asia Pacific. "The Asia Pacific region has some of the most diverse customer niches, network conditions, and application requirements in the world. The VNO solution is an ideal way to implement flexible, low cost, solutions tailored to the users needs." The iDirect VNO solution allows satellite service providers to operate their own VSAT network without the cost of buying the VSAT hub infrastructure. Each VNO rents network capacity from a host network operator such as SpeedCast. This capacity is physically isolated from the resources rented by other service providers, and can be managed in any manner the service provider sees fit, including using private IP addresses. The VNO model allows new operators to develop niche opportunities worldwide, and provides them with state of the art network management tools, security and functionality to deliver the applications customers need, without a significant upfront investment. "SpeedCast satellite infrastructure and Operations expertise provide an ideal platform for our partners to offer high quality network services to their Enterprise customers, in the Asia-Pacific region and the Middle East. With this iDirect platform, we are offering a very powerful solution for converged Enterprise networks with a need to support Voice, Data and Video applications at the same time," said Pierre-Jean Beylier the CEO of SpeedCast. "Adding iDirect's unique virtual network capability to our suite of services allows us to offer greater flexibility to our Partners. This cooperation with iDirect opens new opportunities for SpeedCast to better support Network Service Providers in the region. SpeedCast will deploy the iDirect hub out of Hong Kong to take advantage of one of the world's best IP backbone communication infrastructures and the ability to access satellites located in the India & Pacific Oceans regions where there are free trade zones and progressive telecommunications regulations.
